Featured Favs: Fall Home Refresh

Crunchy leaves underfoot, a crisp fall breeze and cool mornings let us know that the season is changing around us. While we don’t control mother nature, we do have a say in how we cozy up our homes to prepare for what she sends our way. Che Bella Interior Design Assistant Stephanie Osei is a fan of all things fall and shares how she turns the page on the season in her surroundings, giving you a few nuggets that you can apply in your own home.

Seasonal Declutter

Tuck away the beach bag filled with sand toys stationed near your front door to make room for items better suited for cool temperatures. Steph declares, “fall is the perfect time to clear the canvas and prepare your home for new seasonal items.” Remove summer-themed décor items from your shelves and store them away until next year. Once you’ve finished decluttering it’s time to transition your home to fall!

Swap Out Seasonal Décor

To bring your home into its full fall glory, incorporate fall inspired artwork, centerpieces, and table displays throughout your home. A playful pumpkin ‘here’ and a burlap-wrapped vase ‘there’ pays homage to the season. Remember that little touches go a long way toward setting the scene. Understated pops of fall oranges and dusty browns catch your eye as does a tone-on-tone palette which tips its hat to the fading hues of the outdoors this time of year.

Warm Things Up

As the temperatures start to dip, add literal and figurative warmth to your environment with updated pillows and blankets dressed in fall burgundies, olives, oranges and browns. Steph recommends mixing in heavy and chunky blankets like knitted cable throws when possible. In your bedroom, consider updating your bedding, accent pillows and throws to create the perfect cozy fall nook.

Mood Lighting Please

Fall brings with it less daylight, providing long, leisurely evenings. Lean into the darker hours by adding lighting with warmer tones and keep the lights low. Soften the setting in any room by using string lights, table lamps and candles.  If not previously installed, consider adding dimmers to switches to provide optimal mood lighting. The effect of low light is mesmerizing.
