Highlights of High Point Market 2019: Fall & Winter Furniture and Home Accessories Trends
And just like that, we’re back into the swing of things after attending High Point Market 2019 at the end of October! This was our second time attending High Point Market and while we visited some of our favorite vendors’ showrooms, we found new ones to tour and love. One thing is true when a designer visits High Point Market and it’s that inspiration is literally EVERYWHERE in terms of furniture and home accessories. Everywhere you look there’s something bound to catch your eye.
Our goal for attending High Point Market is to research vendors and take their furniture for a spin in person. This allows us to review the details of construction, finishing, fabrics, etc. so that we can bring quality, function, and style back to our clients. The thought of visiting showroom after showroom; viewing, touching, sitting on various pieces of furniture all day long for a few days in a row may sound daunting and overwhelming, but thanks to our designer, Calie, we had a plan! We still got a little derailed, but only because we found other vendors that we had never heard of before!
Travel Day included our plane ride to North Carolina, a stop for Fried Pickles, Fried Green Tomatoes and Okra at Mama T’s (not pictured), wine tasting across the street, a delicious charcuterie platter created by Calie, pretty cans of Rosé for The Bella’s, topped off with the beautiful view of a lake at our rental stay!
What is High Point Market?
High Point Market is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, bring more than 75,000 people to High Point, North Carolina, twice a year. Retail home furnishing buyers, interior designers, architects, and others visit High Point during the Spring or Fall market events. They say, ‘If you can’t find it in High Point…it probably doesn’t exist.” They couldn’t be more right!
High Point Market Facts:
- High Point, NC population is 112,136
- There are 180 furniture showroom buildings in the hustle and bustle of the city
- In that 180 builders lies 12 million square feet of Showspace – Can you even believe that?!
- 75,000 + attendees each market (twice yearly)
- 2000 + exhibitors
- 100+ countries represented
- Thousands of New Product Introductions
- Fun Fact: Approximately 10% of attendees are international!
We love to take photos of our favorite pieces of furniture at High Point Market with people – usually ourselves! – sitting in each pieces so that we can show our clients how it fits one of our bodies. This way we can help them compare the way we fit in a chair to how they might fit in a chair. We also like to have a little fun when we do this, from the cutest, tiniest chairs, to the royal thrones. We stumbled upon a GLORIOUS and unique antique shop where Tracy almost got away from us on that Vespa!

Interior Design Trends 2019
Greens, Pinks, Golds & a little Cognac
While walking through the various showrooms it was clear that emerald and olive greens, pastel pinks, golds, cognac leathers, and warm medium woods are trending colors in the interior design world.
Natural Fibers & Coastal Vibes
However, not all showrooms followed these trends. We also noticed a very light, coastal vibe starting to come through again with pastel blues, light peach and pinks, cream linens, soft warm leathers, and other natural fibers and materials. The High Point Market showrooms don’t just put out what they sell, they set up every space as if it were a fully designed room. Every showroom is designed to the nines, down to the very last stack of books, small plant, or cute little gold swimming hippo. If a showroom doesn’t specifically sell lighting, they partner with another showroom to display lighting to create the finished look.
Getting WILD with Animal Print
Another fun style we saw sprinkled into the showrooms was the use of animal print. We saw zebra, alligator, cheetah, and tiger prints! Don’t be afraid of a little pattern!
Adorable Art
Animal artwork is still going strong! It’s an interesting way to bring in artwork without committing to a specific style or group of colors. Plus, how adorable are those Highlanders! Also, why do I feel that that horse is prettier than me..? Hah!
Luscious Bedding & Too Many Pillows
Don’t forget about bedding! We found some great vendors with a variety of styles to create the comfiest of comfy beds that’ll have you rushing home to crawl back into. High Point Market did not disappoint with the amount of pillows.
