Tracy’s favorite flooring pick to use is in a mudroom is tile or luxury vinyl planks (#3) as both have the durability to stand up to the wear and tear our mudrooms endure (especially here in Minnesota!) Choosing a ceramic tile, like the one on the left (#1), is perfect for adding a fun pop of interest to a space or, if you’re looking cozy textured look, go with a crosshatch porcelain tile like her pick on the right (#2), which is also great at hiding dirt!

Calie loves to be toasty warm so it comes as no surprise that her favorite flooring to use in the bathroom is porcelain tile with electric heat!  Porcelain is an excellent conductor which means cold winter mornings will be a distant memory with this choice! In a more contemporary bathroom, she recommends an angular tile like shown on option (#1), or for a much softer look, a tile that resembles linen (#2).

minnesota interior design flooring trends 2021When it comes to living room spaces, Stefanie’s go-to choice is carpet or hardwood. Lending spaces a soft and livable feel, carpet is popular for families (#1). On the other hand, you can’t beat the easy clean-up appeal that hardwood offers. Stefanie also recommends hardwood for open-concept spaces where easy transitions are hard to come by.  Her other tip? Use rugs with your hardwood floors to add color and texture as well as define spaces.

Within the bedroom, our Stephanie has similar thoughts to our Stefanie above! Her favorite flooring to use in a bedroom is hardwood and carpet. Stephanie thinks there is simply a no more beautiful way to ground your bedroom space than with hardwood floors, especially when you add an area rug like shown in the second image (#2), pictured above from Surya, to add color and comfort. If hardwood simply isn’t your thing, carpet also offers many benefits, most importantly the ability to absorb sound, which is oh-so-important for creating a restful atmosphere!

Last but certainly not least, we are excited to welcome our new project manager Ed, and his male perspective to our monthly Featured Favorites series!  Ed’s favorite flooring choices to use in a kitchen are hardwood and luxury vinyl planks. Hardwood is available in so many different colors and with the right selection for your space, lends a natural traditional beauty but does require refinishing from time to time in a high traffic area like the kitchen. LVP, Ed’s other choice, is a rising star in homes due to its easy installation, durability, and cost.  No matter which you choose, both are popular, offering a wide selection of colors and styles ideal for high-use areas.
